DeKalb County, Illinois

DeKalb County is located in north central Illinois, west of the Chicago area.

It is named for Johann de Kalb, a German hero in the American Revolution. The seat is Sycamore, while the largest city is DeKalb.

It borders Boone, McHenry, Kane, Kendall, LaSalle, Lee, Ogle and Winnebago Counties.

Main highways include I-88, US-30, US-34, IL-23, IL-38, IL-64 and IL-72.
